Looks like Lincoln has his man: Ohio State co-Defensive Coordinator Alex Grinch, per a tweet from Fox’s Bruce Feldman.
A Broyles Award candidate in 2017, Grinch led an enormous defensive turnaround while at Washington State, improving the unit from 97th in his first season to 16th in his final year at Washington State.
Sooner fans should be thrilled here. While Alabama linebackers coach Pete Golding had long been on the top of many wish lists, Grinch fits pretty much every desired category. He’s young, has experience with overall underperforming defenses and will bring an aggressive, high turnover style to a defense that is severely lacking in swagger (unearned sledgehammers do not count as “swagger”).
More info to come.
